Long time, no email.
Â
A quick refresher (since some of you are new to this here email list): the last time I sent an email update with podcast recommendations was October 22, 2020.
What can I say? Stuff happened. It was 2020.
Â
Â
If you want to skip ahead and just get an update for what I'll be sharing from now on, here's the gist:
- I’m going to focus on the thing that made me start the Podcast Maniac blog in the first place: sharing my thoughts and recommendations for podcasts I’ve been listening to (not ones I feel pressured to listen to because of all the hype)
Â
- I’m NOT going to try to keep up with the podcast industry; it’s a full-time job—one which some people are paid to do these days, but I’m not one of them
Â
- I’m also going to share recommendations for books and audiobooks, which have been a bigger part of my life for the last two years
Â
- I’m going to revive this newsletter with the intention of updating you when there are new things on the blog (frequency of the newsletter is still TBD)
Â
I hope you’ll stick around to see what I’ll be sharing and to make your own recommendations!
If you decide that you're not into getting podcast recs emailed to you anymore, you can always use the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email to remove yourself from this list. I doubt that I'll be sending more than 1 email per month, but I understand if your priorities have changed.
My husband and I have spent the last three months translating a book! He translated a sci-fi novel from German to English, and I edited the full text.

New Podcast Review on the Blog
|
I wrote a review about iHeartRadio's Aftershock podcast.
Â
Confession: I have a fascination for earthquakes and volcanoes. This is probably because I've never experienced one or been personally affected by them. It was definitely the reason for my immediate-subscribe to this show.
Â
Needless to say, I really like this podcast and the pacing. It's written to be 10 episodes, so you can start listening now, or plan to binge it later.
Â
Another Quickie Recommendation
|
If you're looking for an interesting, through-provoking listen, try the recent 3-episode series about The Little Mermaid from the Revisionist History podcast.
Â
I went into this series expecting one thing, but was surprised by the turns and loops it threw at me. Regardless of your experience with the original story or the Disney movie version, these three episodes will get you thinking.
