I hope you're continuing to stay safe & healthy, and getting a chance to enjoy the summer season. I'm super interested in what people are listening to this time of year.
Â
In most parts of the world, people are able to get outside and enjoy the warm weather, and I feel like there's a lot more "listen to my favorites" and "staying in my comfort zone" going on.
Â
Also, with the impending back-to-school season, it seems like getting into a brand new podcast is too much effort.
Â
If you ARE ready for a new show, I've got quite a few to share with you today!

Tongal.

Â
3. Back-to-School online event next Friday. Here's another free online event from Patreon. I don't honestly know how podcast adjacent this event is, but since the whole world is dealing with challenges this back-to-school season, it's
worth a mention.

Â
Â
This is a brand new self-help/advice podcast hosted by two licensed therapists. Both Lori Gottlieb and Guy Winch also write well-known advice columns.
Â
Each episode of this podcast features a letter from someone seeking advice, and Lori and Guy's chat with the letter writer. They share their insights into the behaviors and feelings of the letter writer, and give very specific advice. There's also a follow-up with the letter writer (because us listeners don't want to be left wondering what happened!).
Â
I loved Lori's book Maybe You Should Talk to Someone (you can get it here), and I think this podcast is perfect for anyone who liked the Dear Sugars podcast.

Â
I briefly mentioned this podcast in the last newsletter. Now that I've had a chance to listen, I definitely recommend it.
Â
This podcast is made by the team behind Serial. Although it's not hosted by Sarah Koenig, it has a similar sound and pacing, and the same investigative tone as season 2 of Serial.
Â
In Nice White Parents, host Channa Joffe-Walt explores the long history of a school district in New York City, the seemingly good intentions of the white parents in the district, and the effects those intentions have had on the families of color.

Â
You may have noticed that more celebrities are coming out with podcasts lately. With the pandemic shutting down movie, TV, and live events, podcasting has become a way to stay relevant.
Â
I didn't realize that actor Rob Lowe had come out with a podcast until I heard an interview with him on another podcast. At first glance, I saw that the episodes are kind of long, and that they are all interviews with other celebs. That's not usually my thing, but I checked it out anyway.
Â
I have to say: Rob Lowe's no-filter, talk about anything, open up and spill his secrets personality is pretty fun to listen to. Don't listen with kids around (he drops plenty of curse words), but do check it out!
