I'm short on both words and time this week, so let's skip the chit chat and just get down to business!
I Was on a Podcast (Sort of)

Â
Â
The July 6 episode of the Currently Reading podcast featured voice memos sent in by listeners who wanted to recommend a book to the hosts and other listeners (also known as "pressing" books into someone's hands). I sent in a voice memo, and they used it!
Â
It was so much fun to listen to this episode, and to suddenly hear my own voice talking to me (I didn't know ahead of time that they would use the voice memo)!
Â
The best part was the reactions of the co-hosts, one of whom says that my book description both made her hesitant to read the book, but also maybe willing to give it a try. I call that a success!

The list is compiled of shows that I've recommended on the blog in the past, but that you might have missed. Each has a brief description & a link.
Â
I recommend browsing the list now (to see what catches your eye), and then saving it to your phone or computer for future reference. Then, the next time you're looking for something new to listen to, you'll have a big ol' list of options!

If you're going to listen to 1 single episode from this list, choose this one. The Karen is a super deep dive into the idea of a "Karen", pop-culture's name for a certain type of white woman.
Â
The history of Karen (and other names to secretly describe women) was incredibly interesting. I cannot believe how much information the Decoder Ring team was able to dig up and explain so well.
Â
I have always liked this podcast, but I'm MANY episodes behind; I think now is a good time to catch up.

In this brand new show, writer and financial advocate Claire Wasserman interviews a pair of friends and discusses their feelings and issues with money, both as they relate to their individual lives and their friendship.
Â
The second half of the episodes includes an interview with an expert on money and relationships, to help you sort through the conversation you just heard and find the key lessons that you can apply to your life.

Â
I recommended the Plastisphere podcast a few months ago. I'm including it again because host Anja Krieger has released a new episode about the increased use of single use plastic during the pandemic.
Â
I know we're all sick of talking about COVID-19, but it's worth educating yourself about how the pandemic is causing a backslide in terms of using and disposing of single use plastic (some places are repealing their bans on plastic shopping bags).
