Soooo, it's been about a month since I last graced your inbox. And what a month it has been! I hope you're safe and well, and finding healthy ways to cope with...well, you know.
Â
Since I already work from home, my daily life has only changed a little, and my podcast listening hasn't been disrupted much. Still, I struggled to find enjoyment listening to podcasts for a couple of weeks from mid-March to the beginning of April.
Â
As someone who avoids the non-stop news cycle (I only check headlines once or twice per day), I found it difficult to navigate several of my regular shows, as they were producing COVID-19 related episodes. My husband also complained about his favorite shows completely switching focus to pandemic news, instead of content to help him get through it.
Â
To escape the panic, we turned to books. (Email me if you want to know what I've read lately, I've got a few great recommendations!)
Â
Eventually, I did find comfort in a few "quarantine" human-interest podcast episodes, from Reply All
and Death, Sex & Money. And now that everyone has settled into the change a little, I'm enjoying
hearing how my favorite hosts and their guests have overcome all of the recent challenges.
Â
Right before it all hit the fan, I had planned to write podcast reviews about certain shows, but then they suddenly seemed trivial or insensitive. I'll be back with some good reviews soon, and I'll be sure to start adding more positive, fun podcast info to the Facebook page.

Why All Of Your Favorite Podcasters Are In The Closet
Â
Here's a quick, fun post that I published yesterday. I've received more than one question about this from friends recently, so I thought I'd answer the question (in case you've also been wondering)

Back w/ New Episodes: This Is Love
|
|
|
Â
Phoebe Judge is back for season 4 of This Is Love. The episodes in this season will be all about animals, and the first episode about wolves was fantastic.
Â
New episodes of this show couldn't have come at a better time!

The Allusionist's Tranquillusionist Series
Â
I've recommended The Allusionist more than once, so it's clear that I like the show. Still, I'm blown away by Helen Zaltzman's creativity for her last three episodes, all meant to help you stay tranquil during these trying times.
Â
In the latest episode of the Tranquillusionist series, Zaltzman simply reads the names and breeds of each of the (over 100!) winners of the Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. The episode is silly and soothing all at the same time!
Â
The Allusionist wins top prize in my imaginary awards for "top pandemic podcast".

Home Cooking
Â
There's a little word play in this podcast title, as the hosts of the show—Hrishikesh Hirway and Samin Nosrat—are literally at home (self-isolated), cooking (or trying to figure it out).
Â
Samin is a cook and cookbook author, so her info and ideas will help you get creative with the limited ingredients you're working with during quarantine.
Â
I'm a little biased about this show, since I love any podcast that Hrishikesh makes, but he and Samin have a fun brother-sister relationship that totally makes this show fun to listen to.

Modern Love's Love in The Time of Pandemic
Â
So far, there's only one episode of Modern Love's listener stories, but I'm hoping for more. This episode featuring voicemails and memos from listeners was really touching. It's completely different from the show's usual format, but because it was so well-done, I really didn't mind.
