I'm back from NYC, where I had a fun girls weekend and also attended the live recording of the Slow Burn podcast. This was the final episode of Season 3, all about the animosity and violence that resulted in the deaths of two hip hop legends, Tupac and The Notorious
B.I.G.
Â
The show was pretty good, and you can check out all my thoughts—and a few photos—over on the blog.
Â
Of course, the best part of traveling is all the time to listen to podcasts! I consider podcast listening my "work" on a flight. I always make sure to load up on plenty of my favorite shows, and also single episodes of new shows I want to try out.
Â
Since I was traveling alone, and had a full day and a half by myself before my friends arrived, I enjoyed walking around (in the freezing cold rain!) with one earbud in. I also listened to some podcasts while dining solo, too!
Â
I honestly can't think of a better time or place than while traveling to catch up on your fave podcasts, or to try something new. Next time you find yourself prepping for a trip, be sure to add "Download Podcast Episodes" to your packing checklist!

Podcast Review: Fake Heiress
Â
Have you checked out this podcast review yet? I wrote it a couple of weeks ago. The story is completely unbelievable, and the podcast has a unique format that I found interesting.

1. Family Secrets is back for its third season. S3E1 was fantastic, especially the end. Highly recommended.
Â
2. The new WeCrashed podcast, all about the rise and fall of the WeWork company, came out with a bang over the last couple of weeks. Adding to the launch hype: allegations that the podcast ripped off audio interview content from another podcast. Seems it was true, as Wondery responded to say they edited it out once brought to their attention. Here's the Twitter thread. Â
Â
3. Hrishikesh Hirway, creator and host of Song Exploder (and my beloved The West Wing Weekly) has a new show. It's called Partners, and it's about the bond between two people who create something together.

The Pledge
Â
This podcast about everyday activism caught my attention in a Facebook group a few weeks ago. This left-leaning show celebrates democracy in action through the stories of women pledging to make a difference. I've listened to a couple of episodes from the latest season and think they're really well-done.

Poetry Unbound
Â
Poetry is so not something that I understand well, so this podcast is a stretch for me. When I saw that all of the episodes are 8 minutes, I figured that was probably just short enough for me to digest what I'd be hearing.
Â
The first episode, A Poem for What You Learn Alone BLEW. ME. AWAY. I loved the poem selection, the exploration of its meaning, and the story that went along with it. The format of the show is really smart. I'm a new subscriber, and you should be, too!

Podcast Podcast by The Allusionist
Â
I've been a fan of The Allusionist podcast for a long time. The show is all about language, and host Helen Zaltzman is hilarious. Last January, I saw her "perform" this episode live at PodCon. I've always regretted not catching this on video, but now the show has released it in the feed!Â
This quick episode explores the word podcast, a word that was made up at the last minute, but stuck. It's a word that a lot of people wish they could change.
Â
If you want a good chuckle, listen to this episode (I recommend 1.0x or 1.1x speed).
